Here She Comes

She loves to run!
Her body is built for it.
Feet strong, legs powerful and body so sleek.
Tail a waving rudder and her face shows pure joy.

You can't see it when she is after the cows.
The determination shows on her canine face.
She is in her element, she is doing her job.

When she is done, her joy complete, she finds me.
She runs back for a ride, some praise
and always the love.

Feathers loves to go, but her joy is only complete
once she has come back to me.
There is nothing like the joy of a dog with a job.

Almost nothing compares to the love you get from a dog.... Nice story, Mystic!

Shanyn, you are a cattle girl after my own heart! The joy of your dog and your finely tuned descriptions of her "smarts" and her love pleases this DeepSouthUSA ol' farm girl down through my toes! I am so honored to have you from Manitoba visiting with me at my blog! Stay tuned for more unexpected critters approaching Bethlehem during Advent, okay?

Love the pics, and the subject is so apt--dogs are the ones who wait for us, for whom our arrivals and departures are their whole world. Nice.

Oh, this is so very, very true. As I comment here, our dog lies on her window seat behind me, sighing. Now and then she sits up to look out for my husband's arrival. She doesn't understand when I say "He'll be home on Tuesday." Maybe if she had a job, she'd be happier.
When I was a teenager, we had a Scotch collie who simply had to herd something. The cats hated being herded, except for the tiniest kittens, and the one cat who was deaf, and depended on him to find her and bring her home.

I love Feathers!!! As the doting dogmom of an Aussie shepherd, a very similar breed, I know just how this goes. I adore the pictures and the the entire post!

You have commented a couple of times at Word Garden, and I wanted to reciprocate, but I tried to click on your profile and it said that's private, so I didn't know how to find you until now. Glad I did. :-) Thanks for being part of my prompt!

What a beautiful girl she is! She has lots of space to run in, lucky girl! I especially love her in the bottom photo - ears up, eyes fixed on you. So lovely.
